SAIC will locate division HQ in Oak Ridge
July 29, 2008 — Science Applications International Corporation, or SAIC, will establish a shared services headquarters in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
The new center will house human resources, finance, and corporate purchasing operations now based in San Diego and McLean, Va. The move is expected to create more than 150 jobs, bringing the company's total Oak Ridge workforce to 900.
SAIC is a scientific, engineering, and technology applications company that has been in Oak Ridge for more than 30 years. It is renovating existing space and moving some workers to other locations in the city to accommodate the expansion. The move is scheduled for completion by the end of the year.
SAIC senior executive Leo Hazelwood, who will lead the new center, says, "We were drawn to the Oak Ridge area because of its stable workforce, modern telecommunications infrastructure, favorable business environment, and attractive quality of life."
TVA was a partner in the effort, along with local and state officials.
